Due to a number of unknown variables, Bangladesh’s head coach Chandika Hathurusingha stated on Friday that his team is doing its best to be ready for the next T20 World Cup. The unpredictability element, particularly in the United States, is a major factor in the decision to add additional grass to the surface at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium for the current three-match Twenty20 International series versus Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh’s next two group-stage matches are slated to be contested in the West Indies, with their next opponents being South Africa on June 10 and Sri Lanka in Dallas on June 7.
“We are focusing on the World Cup lineup, each player’s ability to blend in, comprehend the strategy, and feel at ease. Before Friday’s series-deciding third game at the SICS, Hathurusingha told reporters, “The other thing I mentioned is that we want to play on good wickets because we don’t know what we get in America and we play two very important games and nobody has any clue because there is not much data behind it.”
According to what I gather, New York has a drop-in wicket ready in Adelaide, and they plan to drop in there with the hopes that the surface will be comparable to those in Australia. NSW Cricket has not provided any comment regarding Dallas. Washington Freedom held its performance there. When I was in Australia, I had a conversation with their general manager. The final Test we played there is what we remember from St. Vincent,” he remarked.
He remarked, “So we are preparing as best we can for these unknown factors,” and that their bowling unit is also benefiting from playing in excellent wickets since it is teaching them a different way to bowl.
It’s a mindset shift as well because when you bowl on certain wickets, 150 is a winning score. “One thing we realised is that we are playing in different kinds of pitches now. In this series, there is more grass and more carry. We want to play on wickets that are conducive to high scoring to get us understand what is acceptable and what areas we need to improve in bowling.” You bowl with an expectation of bowling a specific style, and on these kinds of wickets, you are bowling at an excellent eight runs per over. It wasn’t a par score, and even 200 after losing four wickets in power play, as you saw the other day.I’m quite happy with how our bowling unit is coming together since we almost made it there and we really need to comprehend those elements as well,” he remarked.
Hathurusingha expressed his satisfaction with his charges’ performance following their loss in the first game before to the final Twenty20 International. “You’re referring to our near-perfect game from the previous one, I believe. The thing that pleased me was how fast we learned from the first game,” he remarked.
He also mentioned that Soumya Sarkar and Litton Das both acknowledged that they made mistakes in the first game but bounced back with a 63-run partnership in the second one. “After the first game, they both raised their hands to admit that their strategy was incorrect. They will improve and play better cricket. I’m old enough to know that errors are made by humans. Have a look at our start, number 63 [in Powerplay]. T20 is incredible. We want them to play for the squad and contribute as long as they are doing so.”
Chandika mentioned how much he is pleased with Mahmudullah and Jaker Ali, and how Shoriful Islam is also becoming into one of their best bowlers with each game that goes by. “Mahmudullah has a great deal of experience. He shown great maturity in his BPL play. As I mentioned in an earlier interview, he is playing with a great deal of freedom. I saw how comfortable he was with both his game and himself at the World Cup. He is currently playing really well.
It’s rather energising to observe what Jaker is capable of. Only in this BPL did I see him. It’s incredibly good to see that he is so composed. If someone bats at No. 5, No. 6, or No. 7, they must possess this one trait. Most of the time, you have a set amount of time to do particular tasks. Seeing what he is capable of was really satisfying. As a squad, it greatly boosted our confidence.
We all know that Shoribhi had an excellent BPL season, and I believe that same confidence carried over into his bowling in these matches. It was quite gratifying to watch how he bowled in the second game because in the first game, the ball didn’t swing like it did in the BPL owing to dew, so he had to adjust very fast. With Taskin and Fizz, he is becoming into one of our top bowlers every game. There is also another reliable bowler.”
