Vizag blitzkrieg against Delhi Capitals

IPL 2024: After Vizag’s blitzkrieg over the Delhi Capitals, MS Dhoni’s old tweet reappears

In Match 13 of the IPL 2024, the Delhi Capitals handed the Chennai Super Kings their first loss of the season.

In the thirteenth match of the 2024 Indian Premier League, the Delhi Capitals had their first-ever triumph and the Chennai Super Kings their first-ever defeat of the year. Amidst a contest that included several outstanding individual performances, one particular show caught everyone’s attention and quickly became the talk of the town.

Nothing compares to the fireworks of MS Dhoni, who turned back time with an incredibly powerful innings (37 off 16), his first of the season and full of four fours and three sixes. The whole stadium, regardless of whatever club they supported, was cheering for the veteran after every ball that he struck. Even though CSK lost, Dhoni’s spectacular performance captured viewers’ attention and rekindled curiosity about a treasure trove of social media posts dating back 10 years.

Twenty-three days before the 2014 edition of the league got underway on March 24, 2014, Dhoni had gone to X (then Twitter) to say that, as he was there more for entertainment than cricket, he truly didn’t care whether side won the competition.

Posing with Dhoni is the Vizag ground personnel. Dhoni has long been a crowd favourite. The unsung heroes of hosting a cricket match, the ground personnel, are in awe of the Ranchi-born player because of his skill on the pitch.

At the conclusion of DC’s match against CSK at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, Dhoni was pictured as the centre of the ground staff, who were seen scurrying from all over the outfield to get a photo with the iconic cricket player. The end result was a heartwarming picture of Dhoni surrounded by the gleaming lot that quickly went viral on social media.
