Jofra Archer’s “behave” tweet reappears after Sanjay Manjrekar’s admonishing speech at the Wankhede Stadium

On April 1, 2024, the Mumbai Indians hosted the Rajasthan Royals.

Following the criticism that Hardik Pandya has received from the public in a few of the Mumbai Indians’ away games, where the majority of people were upset that he had taken over as captain from Rohit Sharma under less than ideal circumstances, it was only to be expected that the commotion would be much more heightened at MI’s home ground, the Wankhede Stadium—that is, Rohit Sharma’s stronghold.

Since MI launched their campaign, Hardik has frequently been the target of trolling, both offline and online. It wasn’t surprising that there was a steady echo of jeers ringing throughout the stadium, especially because there was a strong regulation prohibiting any pro-Rohit Sharma banners inside the stadium for MI’s first home game of the season. This further tightened security.

But when the host for the toss, Sanjay Manjrekar, urged the irate Wankhede crowd to “behave” after they began screaming the name of the local child Rohit and taunting Hardik at the same time, things got out of control.

Following the game, social media sites like X were especially flooded with memes about it, and the phrase “behave” quickly gained widespread use. Similarly, on May 23, 2014, the internet uncovered a tweet by former MI player and English speedster Manjrekar that had the exact same phrase he used during MI’s opening home game of the 2024 season, IPL 2024, match 14. The tweet’s background is still unknown to everyone, though, and the coincidence has sparked a lot of discussion and laughter on social media.

MI will immediately play three home games

Following three consecutive losses to the streaking Rajasthan Royals, the Mumbai Indians will play three games in a row at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The chaotic schedule will begin with an afternoon match against the Delhi Capitals and continue with matches against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Chennai Super Kings over the course of a week.
