Shikhar Dhawan's injury

IPL2024: Sunil Joshi provides an update on Shikhar Dhawan’s injury and expresses confidence in Sam Curran, the interim captain

Shikhar Dhawan’s injury status was disclosed by PBKS’s spin bowling coach Sunil Joshi prior to the game against MI.

Sunil Joshi, the PBKS spin bowling coach, discussed Shikhar Dhawan’s injury during the news conference held prior to the match against MI. Joshi stated that the star batter’s rehabilitation is being worked on by the medical staff, and they would notify the management if there are any advancements.

The former Indian cricket player supported Sam Curran, the team’s temporary captain, in his efforts to lead them. Joshi said that Curran filled in admirably for the veteran player throughout the previous campaign.

“The medical staff will evaluate Shikhar Dhawan’s condition and let us know when they get more information. He is currently in recovery,” Joshi stated, as cited by India Today.

In his absence, Sam Curran has been wearing the captain’s hat for us. When Dhawan was hurt last year, he captained the team in his stead and did a great job leading them. Thus, we have total faith in him,” Sunil continued in his remarks.

After Dhawan sustained an injury during the match against RR, Sanjay Bangar had stated that the southpaw will be sidelined for seven to ten days. Curran is the team’s acting captain, according to the hitting coach for PBKS. PBKS and MI will play their next encounter in Mullanpur. The former Indian spinner thought that because of the nature of the pitch, the host team might have a slight advantage.

Our bowling team continuously performs admirably in every category: Joshi Sunil

Joshi stated that PBKS has been doing well as a bowling team throughout all phases and that hitters win games and bowlers win tournaments. He believed that the powerplay overs should be utilised by the hitters. “Batters win games, bowlers win tournaments. Every aspect of our bowling team’s performance is consistently strong. The PBKS coach said, “We have discussed the need for our top order to bat well in the powerplay overs.

Joshi believes that because the surface is difficult for batsmen, especially visitors, the home team has the upper hand. He said in closing that the distinct bounce might work to PBKS’s favour. But because the bounce on this wicket is so distinct from any other surface, it presents a challenge to all batsmen, particularly the visitors. We have an advantage on this surface because of it,” Joshi said.
