T20 World Cup

Powell has been “whispering in his ears” to get Narine to participate in the T20 World Cup.

Sunil Narine was convinced a few days ago that he will be watching the forthcoming T20 World Cup “from home”. However, there is some chance to witness the all-round player in international cricket once more, according to Harsha Bhogle, who spoke to reporters following his 49-ball century against the Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens.

In a sideline conversation following his hundred, Narine said to the commentator, “It is what it is, but we will have to see what the future holds.”

Actually, after spending Tuesday, April 16, in the opposition camp, West Indies skipper Rovman Powell disclosed that he had been attempting to persuade Narine to return from international retirement.

“For the last 12 months, I have been whispering in his ears,” Powell stated regarding Narine, “but he’s blocked out everyone.”

“I’ve spoken with [Dwayne] Bravo, [Kieron] Pollard, and [Nicholas] Pooran. Hopefully, they can fracture his skull before they choose the team.”

Narine declared in November 2023 that he was retiring and that “business as usual” will continue for him in the “franchise world for the foreseeable future” after his final game for the West Indies in August 2019.
