“We left about 20 runs behind, We didn’t get off to an ideal start but the partnership that me and Deepak Hooda had got us on track,” KL Rahul stated.
Following an exciting run chase, the Lucknow Super Giants recently fell short against the Rajasthan Royals. On Saturday, April 27, both teams squared off in the tournament’s 44th game in Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium. The match started with the Lucknow Super Giants batting first, and they didn’t have a good start.
Opening batsman Quinton de Kock was out after just eight runs, while Marcus Stoinis attempted a duck. Early in the game, the hosts found themselves in a difficult situation. But KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda’s hits were what really helped LSG to a respectable total.
Hooda scored 50 runs in 31 balls, while Rahul scored 76 in 48 deliveries. Even though LSG scored 196 runs in the first innings, RR managed to chase down the mark and win the match by seven wickets.
Following the match, LSG captain KL Rahul spoke up, saying that he and Deepak Hooda ought to have scored twenty more runs, and that 220 runs would have been plenty against the Royals, even giving their bowlers a cushion.
“We didn’t get off to the best start, but my partnership with Deepak Hooda [got us on track]. We were about 20 runs behind.” Once we were in the groove, that’s when we could have finished at 220 if Hooda and I had continued to hit and scored 20 more runs each. As more games are being played, we’re seeing how crucial it is for the batters to provide that extra cushion for the bowlers, CNNcricinfo reported Rahul as saying.
I believe we ought to have capitalised a little bit more: Rahul
Rahul also praised the way the Rajasthan Royals used the ball during the first innings. It should be noted that Lucknow only scored 46 runs in the last five overs of the first innings and was 150 for 3 by the fifteenth over.
“They [RR] bowled brilliantly in the last few overs; at the end of the 15th over, we were comfortably ahead at 150 for 3. Thus, in my opinion, we could have capitalised a little bit more and scored an extra 20 to 25 runs,” Rahul remarked.
