denied US visa

Sandeep Lamichhane’s US visa was refused

On Wednesday, Sandeep Lamichhane, a former captain of Nepal, stated on social media that he had been denied a visa to visit the United States. Lamichhane’s rape conviction was overturned on appeal by the Patan High Court a week ago, so he was anticipated to join the Nepal team before their first warm-up match against Canada the following week.

Two of Nepal’s four T20 World Cup Group D matches are scheduled to take place in the United States: in Dallas, Texas, against the Netherlands, and in Lauderhill, Florida, against Sri Lanka. After that, the team will travel to St. Vincent to play the remaining matches against Bangladesh and South Africa.

In 2019, Lamichhane faced an initial setback when trying to secure a US visa required for transiting to the CPL. However, he was eventually able to obtain the appropriate visa. Lamichhane has not yet been formally included to the roster, thus it is currently unknown if he will be eligible for the Caribbean games.
