After RCB lost to RR in the Eliminator on Wednesday, May 22, they were eliminated from the 2024 edition of the lucrative competition. It is possible that Dinesh Karthik said goodbye to the IPL.
Together with Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik concluded his magnificent Indian Premier League (IPL) career with the second-most caps. His side, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), lost to Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator by four wickets, sending him out of the league in his 257th IPL match.
At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, May 22, Karthik made his final appearance in the Indian Premier League 2024 as the Rajasthan Royals overcame a 173-run deficit to go to Qualifier 2.
Following the heartbreaking loss, Karthik led his team off the field after receiving congratulations from the opposing players on what was probably the end of an incredible career. To honor the Tamil Nadu cricket player’s contributions, over 85,000 spectators yelled “DK, DK.”
During his IPL career, the 38-year-old has notably played for six different teams: the Gujarat Lions, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He had previously declared that the 17th tournament edition will be his final dance. By the end of the 2024 season, the stumper-batter has amassed 4,842 runs at a strike rate of 135.36 and an average of 26.32 in the history of the league.

The saga of RCB’s miraculous recovery comes to an end without a happily ever after
In the 2024 Indian Premier League, the team started the season with seven straight losses before achieving an amazing comeback that saw them win six straight games and go to the playoffs.
After Faf du Plessis lost the toss on Wednesday, RR requested that they bat first. Thanks to useful contributions from Rajat Patidar, Mahipal Lomror, and Virat Kohli, they managed to register 172/8 in their 20 overs. Avesh Khan finished with a three-for for Rajasthan, who were very disciplined with the ball.
