Sandeep Sharma’s devastating 5/18 innings was a major factor in Mumbai being limited to 179/9 against the Rajasthan Royals (RR).
Sandeep Sharma, a pacer, took five wickets at the fortress in an amazing bowling display. The Mumbai Indians (MI) batting lineup was completely destroyed in Monday, April 22, match 38 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, thanks to his bowling heroics.
The deadly spell of the 30-year-old pacer (5/18) was a major factor in Mumbai being limited to 179/9. Consequently, the hosts, Rajasthan Royals (RR), defeated the visitors by a commanding nine wickets. Remarkably, MI chose to win the toss and bat first.
They lost three wickets for just 20 runs in the first four overs, though, which was a terrible start for them. On a surface that helped the bowlers, Sandeep Sharma’s astute usage of cutters and variations proved to be the secret to his success. However, this was not an easy accomplishment for the gifted bowler, as he was previously deemed unfit and was unable to play for the Rajasthan Royals in the current Indian Premier League 2024.
“It was only yesterday, the day before. Feeling excellent, the first game after fitness. Because of the slower and lower pitch, I intended to continue using cutters and bowling variations. During the post-match presentation, Sandeep stated, “You have to have a big heart if you’re bowling in the end.”
