In the IPL 2024 match against PBKS, Robin Uthappa lauded Shubman Gill’s leadership and batting prowess.
Speaking with the media following the Gujarat Titans vs. Punjab Kings game was Robin Uthappa. The former IPL player gave Shubman Gill a lot of credit for leading by example against PBKS. The youthful captain contributed to GT’s fourth-season victory. Gill has captained the team admirably thus far and won over many supporters and analysts after Hardik Pandya left GT. The young player’s captaincy impresses Uthappa.
Regarding Gill’s role in GT’s victory over PBKS, Uthappa expressed his belief that the 24-year-old is a gift for Indian cricket. He continued by saying that the child has been developing rapidly for their age. Robin said Gill’s leadership qualities have improved thus far. The former cricketer for CSK asserted that Gill might lead Indian cricket and assist his team win an IPL championship.
“Yes, I believe he is a gift for cricket in India. He’s developing into one of the greatest players in Indian cricket history, in my opinion. Speaking to the broadcasters, Robin added, “And I think we’ve seen him thrive and we’re seeing him grow into a very prolific leader who is going to lead not just his IPL side but also the Indian team in the near future.”
Robin Uthappa said, “He needed someone to play a little bit more aggressively at the end.”
The two-time IPL champion talked more about Gill’s batting performance against PBKS. Before dying, the GT opener scored 35 runs in just 27 balls. Uthappa thought the inning was excellent. The Karnataka batsman stated that he wanted to bat through the innings and felt that Gill had structured his stint correctly. To relieve pressure on the star batsman, Uthappa asserted that someone from GT needed to bat energetically at the other end.
Fantastic inning. I believed that he attacked his innings in the proper manner since it is crucial that he bats the entire innings in order for GT to succeed. Uthappa urged for aggression from the GT hitters, saying, “He needed someone to play a little bit more aggressively at the end and take pressure off him so that he could play that.”
Uthappa claimed that Gill tried to escalate the ante by throwing away his wicket. He asserted that Sai Sudarshan should play this role and that Gill did not need to bat aggressively. Uthappa recognized that Sai was still young and would improve with time. In conclusion, the former Indian cricket player stated that when Sudarshan bats with intent, GT and Gill will profit.
Thus, he left when he tried to up the stakes. Not that he needed to do that. Sai Sudarshan might have succeeded. However, I believe that Sai Sudarsan’s shift towards increasing his strike rate will also occur eventually. And I think that combo will be fantastic when that happens,” Uthappa told the broadcasters.
