Gulbadin Naib joins the Delhi Capitals to replace Marsh

The Delhi Capitals have signed Afghanistan all-rounder Gulbadin Naib to cover for injured Mitchell Marsh for the duration of the 2024 Indian Premier League.

The all-rounder with a medium pace of bowling, who has led his country and participated in 82 ODIs and 62 T20Is, has been signed for a base fee of INR 50 lakh. He’s been chosen to play in the Indian Premier League for the first time.

In the T20I series against India in January of this year, Naib made an impression by hitting two half-centuries at Bengaluru and Indore, respectively. He replaces Marsh, who played four games for the Delhi Capitals this season but didn’t leave much of an impact with the bat or the ball. He missed the competition due to a hamstring strain, but he returned to Australia on April 12.

Following a lackluster beginning to the season, the Delhi Capitals have seen a turn around in recent weeks, climbing the standings to take sixth position with four victories in nine games.
