In Match 21 of the IPL 2024, Mayank Yadav bowled just one over against the Gujarat Titans.
Along with winning Player of the Match awards in his first two IPL matches, Mayank Yadav, a 21-year-old speedster from Delhi, attracted a lot of attention from pundits and viewers alike. They were enthralled with his raw pace and intimidating line and length, which kept opposing batters on their toes when they came up against him. Watching the rising star consistently test the speed gun and hovering around 150–155 kph was thrilling, especially during his match-winning bursts on 3/27 and 3/14 against the Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, respectively. His fastest was a lightning-fast thunderbolt of 156.7 kph against the Bengaluru-based franchise.
Though only two of his six deliveries were bowled at a little over 140 kph, and he was bowled for 13 runs in the one over he bowled, Mayank didn’t look nearly as impressive as he had in his third match against the Gujarat Titans, which the Lucknow Super Giants ultimately won by 33 runs.

After that, he never made it to the bowling crease. He was removed due to what was initially thought to be a possible side strain, but LSG CEO Vinod Bisht later identified it as a lower stomach ailment. Mayank was experiencing the aforementioned hardship, according to Bisht, who also stated that he and the team management expect to see him ready to play in the upcoming week—but not before administering his burden in the days ahead.
“Mayank experienced lower abdomen pain, so we are reducing his workload for the upcoming week as a precaution. A day following LSG’s third straight victory, Bisht stated, “We hope to see him soon on the field.”
LSG will play their fifth game of the season against struggling DC.
On Friday, April 12, high-flying LSG will meet boring DC. Delhi, who are now ranked last among the 10 teams, has only won one of their five games played. They also have the lowest net run rate.
