After winning the toss, SRH chose to field first at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) takes place on Friday, April 5. Both teams entered the game with the intention of winning again after their previous match loss. At the slow-track Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, the SRH chose to field first after winning the toss.
Travis Head will enter the game as an Impact Player in the second inning for the home club, which oddly only started three foreign players in their starting lineup. This is the same pitch where more than 500 runs were scored the previous week, so regrettably, CSK was forced to start the match with a young bowling unit against a club that had previously recorded the highest league total (277). Mustafizur Rahman and Matheesha Pathirana are not among them.

Highlights of SRH vs. CSK’s second innings
First wicket: Bhuvneshwar Kumar b Aiden Markram c Rachin Ravindra 12 (9)
CSK’s aggressive opener Rachin Ravindra was their first wicket to go. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, a pacer for SRH, removed the New Zealand all-rounder with the first ball of the third over. In the Twenty24 Indian Premier League, Bhuvaneshwar took his first wicket as Ravindra went for 12 runs off 9 balls.
Powerplay 1: Mandatory – 48 runs, 1 wicket; Overs 0.1 to 6.0
Rahane regained his groove against Bhuvneshwar Kumar after struggling to get going at first. Ruturaj Gaikwad hit the last delivery for a six to round off the first powerplay, which saw 15 runs come in from Kumar’s third over.
Strategic Timeout1: Shivam Dube (25 off10) and Ajinkya Rahane (17 off14) lead the Chennai Super Kings to an 80/2 score in 9.0 overs.
Following the powerplay, SRH captain Pat Cummins launched the spin attack, beginning with Markande. When the opposing captain failed to clear the fielder at long on, Shahbaz Ahmed dismissed him with the opening ball of the match. Shivam Dube, a left-hander, came to the crease as a result, and he didn’t take long to display his strength. After CSK scored fifteen runs in the ninth over, the umpire called a calculated pause in play.
Chennai Super Kings: 69 balls and 11.3 overs yielded 100 runs.
After rejoining the attack, Cummins gave up just four runs. While Jaydev Unadkat bowled a respectable first over against T Natarajan, Dube more than made up for it in the 12th over. The CSK batsman hit back-to-back sixes to contribute to his team’s spectacular 100-run victory.
Second strategic timeout: Chennai Super Kings, 115-2 in 13 overs, with Ajinkya Rahane (31 off 26) and Shivam Dube (44 off 22).
After giving up 15 runs in Natarajan’s second over, Dube and Rahane, the CSK batsmen, resumed their 50-run partnership. Unadkat bowled the 13th over, which ended with nine runs, and both teams divided for a calculated time out.
Chennai Super Kings: 108 balls and 150 runs in 18 overs
For SRH, the slow deliveries proved to be effective as they secured a crucial wicket of the dangerous Shivam Dube (45 off 24 balls). The breakthrough was provided by the captain, who secured his 50th IPL wicket. In the very next over, Unadkat dismissed Rahane by bringing in two fresh batsmen, Ravindra Jadeja and Daryl Mitchell, at the crease. The Kiwi hitter smashed a boundary on the final ball of the 18th over, bringing the total to 152-4.
Chennai Super Kings: 165/5 at the end of the first innings (20 overs)
In the last over, Natarajan gave Bhuvaneshwar a lot of praise as he bowled a tight 19th over. On the third ball, the left-arm bowler dismissed Mitchell, bringing MS Dhoni to the crease. The Hyderabad audience gave the former captain of CSK a hearty welcome. To reach 165 on the board, he took a single off the second ball and Jadeja struck a boundary off the last delivery. SRH limited the guests to an inadequate amount.
