Gujarat Titans, with a negative net rating of 1.303, are presently ranked seventh in the league.
The Gujarat Titans (GT) hosted the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 32nd Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match at Ahmedabad’s famed Narendra Modi Stadium. For their chances of making the playoffs to be alive, both teams needed to win this game. Both teams were in the lower half of the league standings, and a victory may move one of them up to the top half.
After winning the toss, the Delhi Capitals choose to bowl first because their bowlers excelled during the powerplay. In the game’s second over, veteran Ishant Sharma dismissed in-form batsman Shubman Gill. Sai Sudharsan and Wriddhiman Saha enjoyed a brief collaboration, but they had to part ways quickly as they were dismissed for cheap runs. Even after being added back to the squad, David Miller was unable to muster much as he was out for two runs.
The Gujarat Titans’ lower order displayed some grit as they attempted to form partnerships and score runs. With some excellent glovework behind the wicket, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant was able to end the partnership. Tristan Stubbs took two wickets in his opening over, so it was a wise move to give him the ball. Even with Rashid Khan’s significant 31-run cameo, the home team was only able to score 89 runs.
The new-look opening duo of Prithvi Shaw and Jake Fraser McGurk adopted an offensive strategy in an effort to easily hunt down the total. In an attempt to increase the pressure on the team, both batters lost their wickets. However, the remaining hitters ensured that the hosts had no opportunity to win this game. Rishabh Pant remained at the crease till the very end, fittingly, as his team finished the run chase in just nine overs.

How is GT going to qualify for the Playoffs?
Prior to the competition, the Gujarat Titans were one of the favourites to win the Indian Premier League title, but things haven’t gone smoothly for the team. On Sunday, April 21, the team will take on the Punjab Kings in their upcoming match. The Titans need to win this game in order to maintain their hopes of making the playoffs.
The Titans head to Delhi for the rematch following their game at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh. If Shubman Gill and his team want to remain on target for the top four in this Indian Premier League season, they will need to win both of their next games.

But winning a few games won’t guarantee them a spot in the playoffs. For the most part of their remaining games, the Shubman Gill-led team will need to maintain their winning streak. The two-time finalists have seven games left, and if they win at least five of them, they will finish in the top four and move on to the main round of the competition.
