Predicted starting lineup for the Mumbai Indians versus the Lucknow Super Giants in the 48th IPL 2024 match
The 48th Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match will pit the Mumbai Indians (MI) against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The game is scheduled for April 30, 2024, at 7:30 PM (IST), at the Bharat Ratna Sri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Given the difficult challenge of currently sitting in the league’s midtable, both teams would be itching for a victory. There is still one team left in the league, so this should be an exciting game.
Based on the points table, LSG is ranked sixth. In their nine games played thus far, they have five victories and four defeats. They continue to be ahead of DC in the table thanks to their positive net rate of +0.059. Conversely, MI comes in at number nine in the points table. The only team in the standings below them is RCB. In nine games, they had three victories and six defeats. They are now listed behind PBKS in the table due to their net run rate of -0.261. They would be aiming for a decisive victory over LSG.
Both sides have dropped their prior games. In a thrilling match, MI was defeated by DC by a mere 10 runs, while LSG suffered a home defeat to RR after giving up the highest run chase. Their starting lineup includes a number of talented players, including Matt Henry, KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, Quinton De Kock, Nicholas Pooran, and Krunal Pandya. MI also has a strong group of players. Their previous results have been inconsistent, thus the matchup with LSG will be crucial.
The following is the expected starting lineup for MI against LSG in the 48th IPL 2024 match:
Ishan Kishan (Wk) and Rohit Sharma are the openers.
The Mumbai Indians will probably stick with their starting lineup of openers. At the top is the aggressive combination of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. Thus far, MI has found success with the left-right combination. However, in the last three to four games, the pair has not played as well as they would have liked to, which can be considered one of the primary causes of their current league position. The two would want to influence things at the top and help the five-time champions get off to a strong start.

MI will have Ishan Kishan take care of the wickets. Both as a batter and a gloveman, he has excelled. He can exploit the field limitations to his advantage to take the bowlers early in the innings. On the other side, MI has Rohit, who is possibly playing at his best level this IPL season. The best possible preparation for the T20 World Cup 2024 is being made by the star hitter. In the powerplay overs, the seasoned batter is putting on a show by hitting for maximum power. He can also play longer innings if necessary.
Tim David, Tilak Varma, Nehal Wadhera, and Suryakumar Yadav make up the middle order.
MI has some of the world’s most aggressive middle-order hitters. Suryakumar Yadav, a world-class batter who hasn’t played at his best this season, is the visiting team’s number three player. He has to score some runs to get back into form before the T20 World Cup in 2024. He would have an excellent opportunity during the next five matches. Tilak Varma of MI is a dependable and aggressive batsman who bats number four. This season, he has been among the most underappreciated batters.
The Southpaw has carried on with his work without receiving much attention. Nehal Wadhera will still be selected in Michigan’s primary region. He performed admirably against the Rajasthan Royals. The Southpaw bats anywhere between number three and number seven. Tim David, MI’s designated finisher, would trail him. The aggressive batter hopes to get back to his best before the T20 World Cup in 2024. He hasn’t played at his best this season.
Mohammad Nabi and Hardik Pandya are all-around players.
MI’s lineup features an excellent group of all-around players. Particularly in Twenty20 cricket, two of the greatest all-rounders in the world are Hardik Pandya and Mohammad Nabi. They both hope to get back to their previous level of play as they have not had a great tournament. Nabi hasn’t been able to take wickets, but Hardik hasn’t been playing at his best at the bat or as a bowler. With the bat, the seasoned player has failed to leave an impression.
As a bowler, Hardik Pandya is capable of bowling in several phases. He can bat anywhere from number 4 to number 7 as a batter. For the sake of both his IPL team and Team India, MI’s captain will be aiming to perform well in the next games. As a bowler, Muhammad Nabi has performed well for MI in a variety of situations. The legendary player from Afghanistan has not taken many wickets, but he has managed the run flow.
Piyush Chawla, Luke Wood, Jasprit Bumrah, and Nuwan Thushara (Impact replacement) are bowlers.
Michigan features a number of talented bowlers. Mohammad Nabi will be the second spinner in the squad, meaning Piyush Chawla will probably be the only one spinning. In the last game, Chawla bowled admirably while all the other bowlers—aside from Jasprit Bumrah—went for runs. For MI, the latter would be the most crucial resource. In the final PP phase, he can bowl one over and come back for the final overs. He can break partnerships in the middle of overs if necessary by delivering an over.

MI will probably stick with the foreign pace duo they used in the last game. Luke Wood adds another level of diversity to the attack. The right-handers can be troubled by the left-arm pacer’s ability to swing the ball into them. Among the most fascinating bowlers to keep an eye on is Nuwan Thushara. The Sri Lankan will be looking to improve on his lacklustre performance against DC in the match against LSG. For the five-time champions, he will be essential in Gerald Coetzee’s absence.
The following is MI’s anticipated starting lineup against LSG
Tim David, Mohammad Nabi, Piyush Chawla, Jasprit Bumrah, Luke Wood, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Nehal Wadhera, and Hardik Pandya (C).
Impact replacement: Nuwan Thushara
