Match 38 of the 2024 Indian Premier League, Stats Review: Most centuries against a team and further figures from RR vs MI

Yashasvi Jaiswal returned to form in Jaipur against MI, scoring an incredible hundred.

After losing to the Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium earlier in the season, Mumbai Indians travelled to Jaipur for Match No. 38 of the IPL 2024 in an attempt to even the scores.

When MI chose to bat first, they were dealt a severe setback when Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Trent Boult (2 for 32) in the opening over. However, Sandeep Sharma (5 for 18) did the most damage to MI’s batting early, taking two more wickets during the powerplay and leaving MI reeling at 45/3 at the conclusion of it.

In the eighth over, Yuzvendra Chahal held on to a return catch from Mohammad Nabi, turning this into 52/4. Nehal Wadhera (49 off 24) and Tilak Varma (65 off 45) had now joined, and between them they had scored 99 in just 52 deliveries when Trent Boult came back to end the partnership. MI could only manage 179/9 as RR bowled brilliantly at the end, notably Sandeep Sharma who came back to take three wickets.

RR responded carefully at first, but as soon as Yashasvi Jaiswal (104* off 60) stepped up the pace, nothing could stop RR from winning quickly. However, RR’s cause was much aided by MI’s terrible fielding performance. In actuality, RR won by an astounding nine wickets.
