Due to injury, mystery spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman of Afghanistan will not play for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Twenty24 Indian Premier League(IPL). His countryman, 16-year-old Allah Ghazanfar, will take his place in the starting lineup.

Keshav Maharaj, a left-arm spinner from South Africa, was recruited by the Rajasthan Royals to replace fast bowler Prasidh Krishna, who is presently recuperating from surgery on his left proximal quadriceps tendon.

Ghazanfar, another mysterious spinner, made his debut for his country earlier this month in the ODI series against Ireland, although he was without a wicket in both of his appearances. At the recently ended Under-19 World Cup, he took eight wickets at an average of 16.75, ranking second among Afghanistan’s bowlers. Ghazanfar has participated in three T20s and six List A games. He pays INR 20 lakhs, which is his base fee, to join KKR.

Veteran South African player Maharaj has taken 237 wickets in 50 Tests, 44 ODIs, and 27 T20Is throughout his international cricket career. He has also participated in T20 competitions all across the world, playing for Fortune Barishal in the BPL and Durban’s Super Giants in the SA20. After arriving in India earlier this month, Maharaj, who took 15 wickets from 13 matches in the SA20 this year, trained with the Lucknow Super Giants team.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru will be KKR’s next opponent on Friday after they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by four runs to start their campaign. The Royals also had a successful start to the season against the Super Giants(IPL).
