As the new spin bowling coach for the Bangladesh men’s national team, Mushtaq Ahmed, a World Cup winner and leg-spinner for Pakistan, will be on board until the end of the ICC T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies in 2024.
Rangana Herath, who departed the BCB after the first Test match against New Zealand last year, is replaced in this role by Mushtaq.
Prior to the preparatory camp later this month for the T20 series against Zimbabwe, the 53-year-old will join the Bangladeshi squad.
“Being a spin bowling coach for the Bangladesh cricket team is an incredible honour for me. According to a BCB news release, Mushtaq said, “I am excited about the role and want to share my experience with the players because they are very coachable and I always believe that they are one of the most dangerous teams around.”
“They possess the ability, the means, and the talent to defeat anybody. I’ll make an effort to instill that belief in them. “I am thrilled about the chance to collaborate with the group,” he said in closing.
During his playing career, Mushtaq took 185 Test wickets and 161 ODI wickets. He was the spin bowling coach for England from 2008 to 2014, the West Indies from 2018 to 2019, Pakistan from 2020 to 22 and the bowling consultant for the Pakistan team from 2014 to 2016.
