In the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain has not ruled out starting Shakib Al Hasan at No. 3. In the most recent ICC T20 World Cup, Najmul—who is currently batting at No. 3 in the batting order—was the top scorer for Bangladesh when he batted as an opener. Tanzid Hossain, Soumya Sarkar, and the injured Litton Das currently occupy this position.
Towhid Hridoy bats at four, while Shakib, who was at ease batting at three in the shortest format, is now batting at five.
“It depends on the condition and the strength of the opposition but it can happen (Shakib going at number three),” Najmul stated to Cricket sport.
In response to the question of whether he is prepared to reopen in the shortest format, he did not completely rule it out.”It (my going back to open) also depends (on lot of factors),” he stated.
After the press conference, head coach Chandika Hathurusingha made a point of saying that no batter had a set position in the shortest format, which brought attention to the batting order shift in Najmul.
After frequently altering their batting order at the most recent World Cup in India, Bangladesh came under heavy criticism. Yes, in Twenty20 cricket, indeed. The order of batting will be altered. Normally, cricket is like that. Where and how well you bat are the most important factors, Chandika told reporters.
“Regardless of the game we’re playing, we all want to win. most likely test a few combos that we still feel like trying. However, when I say try, I also mean that we need to give the important players a break. Therefore, we consider both the workload and the need to maintain people cognitively and physically young. But comprehending the situation in the USA is the first goal, he stated.
While acknowledging that Litton has all the support he needs in spite of his subpar performance, Najmul continued, saying he is not overly concerned about his own form.
“In the most recent World Cup, I had a strong return. About my batting in this event, I’m not too concerned. I’m practicing harder and getting better at it. “I have faith in my ability to pull off another comeback in this World Cup,” Najmul declared.
“In the T20I series, we didn’t bat well against Zimbabwe.” Rain also forced us to move on and off the pitch during some of the bouts. I should score runs in every game with Litton. A late addition to the squad was not something we had in mind. Our goal was to lead our squad to the World Cup. We expect to perform well in the event because our team has a clear mentality,” he stated.
“I never would have let Litton go.” Perhaps it was during the Sri Lanka series that we were talking about our World Cup roster. We played matches at home in an attempt to get ready, but success is arbitrary. However, we made it plain that we won’t change anyone when some players perform poorly in these games,” he stated.
Najmul went on to say that they hope senior players Mahmudullah and Shakib al Hasan enjoy themselves while playing in the World Cup because it may be their final time competing for the ICC.
“As this is all conjecture, I have no idea if this is Shakib and Mahmudullah’s final World Cup. Given that they have been playing for such a long time, it is our responsibility as young people to make sure they have a positive World Cup recollection,” Najmul stated.
“I would like them to share their experience among the players and help us to improve in the small areas,” he stated.
