“I get the urge to wish I was a batter. I believed it wouldn’t happen again after Mumbai a few weeks ago, but Cummins says it has.
Monday, April 15, saw Royal Challengers Bengaluru play Sunrisers Hyderabad in the thirty-first match of the current Indian Premier League at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The match wrote history as the visitors amassed 287 runs in the first innings following an incredible batting display by SRH.
In addition to defeating RCB by 25 runs, the objective saw SRH triumph. Following the game, Hyderabad’s captain, Pat Cummins, grabbed the mic and talked about how, on occasion, he wished he was a batter.
When asked if bowlers will become extinct in a few years as a result of these pitches and the hitters’ performances, Cummins said that he still had a few years left in him.
“I get the urge to wish I was a batter. I didn’t think it would happen again after Mumbai a few weeks ago, but it did. Please give me a few more years to see whether bowlers go extinct! “It feels amazing when you bowl an over for seven or eight,” Cummins remarked at the presentation ceremony following the game.
I am no longer attempting to decipher the pitches: Cummins
The all-star SRH captain also praised his batters’ mentality for approaching each game, saying that even with the pitch’s unpredictability, the players are able to adjust and even keep the mood in the camp good.
“I am no longer attempting to interpret the pitches. We’re really satisfied with our cricket; we’ve won four games so far. The batsmen’ freedom to play is fantastic, and a few cunning bowlers are also contributing to our success,” Cummins remarked.
It is noteworthy that RCB came quite near to reaching the objective of 25 runs, despite their best efforts to hunt it down. Hyderabad now stands in fourth position in the IPL 2024 rankings after their victory. SRH presently has eight points after four victories and two defeats.
However, with just two points from seven games, RCB finds itself at the bottom of the rankings, and their chances of making the playoffs appear to be dwindling with each passing game.
