Shreyas Iyer reflects

“You have butterflies in your stomach,” says Shreyas Iyer, describing what motivates him to continue playing.

“I have said many times earlier that when you are on the other side of the line, there are butterflies in your stomach,” Iyer stated.

The two-time IPL champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), led by Shreyas Iyer, are winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Kolkata Knight Riders are well on their way to the IPL playoffs, sitting in second position in the rankings with five victories and three losses.

The 47th match of the league will see Kolkata Knight Riders continue their campaign against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Monday, April 29. Prior to the much awaited match, captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders, Shreyas Iyer, discussed his motivation for playing.

“I’ve mentioned numerous times before that you get butterflies in your stomach when you’re on the other side of the line. “You always consider the audience and the circumstances as to what might occur,” Iyer stated in a Star Sports video.

“And as soon as you walk in, I go blank, which means that even if you can see and hear the audience cheering, you are still in your zone. Nothing else matters after you’ve entered that zone, to be honest, but when you smash a six or a four and the audience begins cheering—especially if the batsman is playing beautifully—it gives you a lot of adrenaline that I really enjoy. And when the throng whispers your name,” Iyer said in closing.
