The only hitter to surpass 500 runs in the IPL 2024 is Virat Kohli, who is now wearing the Orange Cap.
In recent years, Virat Kohli’s T20 cricket strike rate has generated a lot of discussion. Ravi Shastri, a legendary pundit and former India head coach, has just endorsed him, nevertheless.
During the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Kohli has been playing at an incredible level. With 500 runs from 10 games at an average of 71.43, he leads all run scorers. Even in T20 cricket today, the right-handed batter’s season strike rate of 147.49 is pretty respectable. He has been criticized by some cricket fans, though, for slowing down after making a fast start.
In support of the former India captain, Shastri stated that it is difficult to accelerate when wickets are coming from the other end. Shastri was close with Kohli during his time as head coach.
Shastri said to Stake.com in the midst of the IPL 2024, “Your strike rate is likely to drop when wickets fall around you.”
This judgment from the former all-rounder for India came after Kohli, on Sunday, April 28, helped Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) overcome Gujarat Titans by scoring an impressive 70 runs not out off 44 balls and forming an undefeated 166-run partnership with Will Jacks (100* off 41 balls).

Very few RCB players consistently perform well
The Shastri RCB season hasn’t gone well so far. With just three wins and seven losses from ten games, they are wallowing at the bottom of the standings. Kohli has been their lone fighter, but their renowned batting lineup has failed to produce as a unit.
The 61-year-old admitted, “There are only 1 or 2 consistent performers at RCB.”
Shastri is considered to be among the greatest pundits of all time. In ICC (International Cricket Council) competitions, he has provided the voice for some of India’s most memorable moments. Shastri disclosed his preparation methods before to his commentary engagements.
“I speak what I see and do the right amount of preparation on crucial aspects such as the event and the teams playing,” said Shastri.

There were rumors that Kohli was not being considered for India’s 2024 T20 World Cup squad. But on Tuesday, April 30, Kohli was one of the 15 players selected for the major tournament by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
